Liverpool will rival Arsenal for Benfica winger Andrija Zivkovic, according to Record (via Calciomercato.com).

The Serbian international was watched by Gunners scouts when Benfica thrashed Rio Ave 5-1 on Friday night, but the Portuguese publication reports they will have to battle the Reds for the midfielder’s signature.

Zivkovic has been pursued by Arsenal for a number of years, even before his free transfer switch to Portugal from Partizan Belgrade in 2016.

The 21 year old’s performances since his arrival in Lisbon have been inconsistent, and in his second season at Benfica he has been in an out of the starting line up under manager Rui Vitoria.

In his last outing, Zivkovic was actually employed in a new role in central midfield, and reports suggest he performed well, making runs from deep, and causing problems between Rio Ave’s midfield and defence.

The Serbian has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and providing four assists
