Arsenal have been given a boost in their reported pursuit of AC Milan striker Andre Silva after the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, held talks to discuss the Portugal international’s future with the club’s director.

The Gunners have been long-term admirers of the former Porto star, who is reportedly unsettled at the San Siro following his £34million move last summer.

The Daily Mirror say, as reported by Calciomercato, that Mendes has met with AC Milan director Marco Fassone to discuss whether the 22-year-old is in the club’s future plans.

Silva has only managed to score six goals for AC Milan this season, all coming in the Europa League, and yet to net in Serie A despite 16 appearances.

Arsenal lost the services of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United last month but acquired Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Dortmund, but some still believe the Gunners are short of options upfront.

Silva, who is also reportedly attracting the attention of Everton, would be an ideal signing for Arsenal this summer.
