Sky Sports say Arsenal have made a fresh enquiry for West Brom captain Jonny Evans.

The Gunners were interested in acquiring Evans last summer, along with Manchester City, who had a £18million bid turned down in August.

City are also understood to have made another enquiry for the 30-year-old centre-back, but no formal offers have been tabled as of yet.

Evans has 18 months left to run on his current deal at the Hawthorns and Alan Pardew admitted last month that he was planning with life without the defender, should suitable offers arrive.

The former Manchester United man has been linked with a couple Premier League clubs, including Leicester City, and has yet to commit his long-term future to West Brom.

Evans has made 80 Premier League appearances for the Baggies since joining them in August 2015.

Arsenal continue to have problems at the back, it was evident yesterday evening when they crashed out of the FA Cup Third Round in a 4-2 loss to Championship side Nottingham Forest.

Despite being linked with a move for Evans, Arsene Wenger has since admitted that the club are not close to signing anyone.
