Ajax Director of Football Marc Overmars has told interested clubs to forget about signing winger David Neres this month.

Calciomercato.com reported in December that the Brazilian Under 20 international was being watched by Arsenal, as well as London rivals Tottenham, Manchester United and Juventus.

A €25million (£22m) asking price was reportedly placed on the 20 year old, but Overmars was quick to deny that the midfielder and his team mate Justin Kluivert are available for transfer. He was quoted by Algemeen Dagblad as saying:

“If they call for them, I do not pick up the phone.”

Neres was only signed by Ajax from Sao Paulo last January for €12million, and it seems that the Eredivisie club are unwilling to let the winger leave after only spending one year at the Amsterdam Arena.

The Brazilian is predominantly left footed, but generally plays from the right hand side. His dominant characteristic is his pace and in his first full season in the Netherlands, he has impressed many with his performances.

In 22 appearances in all competitions this campaign, Neres has scored 9 goals and provided 12 assists.
