Arsenal attacking midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has re-joined Dutch second division outfit MVV Maastricht, according to the club’s official website.

The Nigerian Under 20 captain, who had also been linked with a move to Aberdeen, has been on loan at Eredivisie side VVV Venlo for the first half of the season.

Nwakali had initially started the season in VVV’s first team, but he has made just one appearance for the Dutch club in the last eight league games.

The lack of game time was not something the Gunners would have planned, considering he was sent out on loan for the express purpose of gaining more first team experience.

The 19 year old will now spend a second spell in the Eerste Divisie playing for MVV, after spending last season on loan at the Dutch side. They currently sit 12th in the league, behind both PSV’s and Ajax’s youth teams.

Whether Nwakali will gain the required experience playing at this level, we will have to wait and see.
