Arsenal and Liverpool have been joined by German clubs Hamburg and Wolfsburg in the race to sign Novara striker Alessio Da Cruz, according to TMW.
Gunners scout Francis Cagigao was pictured meeting with Da Cruz’s representatives George Boateng and Menno Groenwald last month, and it seems that interest in the former Dutch U18 international is hotting up.
In addition to Liverpool and the two Bundesliga clubs, reports have suggested that Brighton, Southampton and Swansea City are also keeping an eye on Da Cruz.
The interest in the forward is surprising considering he was allowed to leave Eredivisie side FC Twente on a free transfer for Serie B in the summer.
Da Cruz’s promising start to life in Italy, with five goals and two assists in his first 16 games, no doubt brought him to the attention of watching scouts. However, the player certainly wouldn’t have impressed observers with his last outing for Novara. He was a substitute in last week’s 2-1 defeat to Virtus Entella, and was actually sent off for two bookable offences, three minutes after coming on to the pitch.
