Arsenal look to offer £25m part exchange deal for Northern Irish international

|

Arsenal may look to include unwanted right back Mathieu Debuchy in their bid to sign West Bromwich Albion captain Jonny Evans, according to the Evening Standard.

The Baggies are looking for £25m for the Northern Irishman and it seems the full back’s inclusion in the deal for Evans could help speed up negotiations.

Debuchy was linked with the Baggies by French publication L’Equipe at the weekend. He played for West Brom boss Alan Pardew at Newcastle United before being sold to the Gunners for £13.5m in 2014.

The 32 year old signed a five year contract at the time, but he has been on the periphery of the first team for the last two seasons. He spent the second half of 2015/16 season on loan at Bordeaux, but since then he hasn’t been able to secure a move away from the Emirates.

Nice were poised to seal a deal for the former France international in the summer, and despite Arsenal being prepared to waive a transfer fee to offload the defender, the Ligue One side opted against signing him, in favour of Lyon right back Christophe Jallet instead.
