The Brazilian born Italian international has been scouted by the for a number of years due to his excellent passing range, and ability to dictate play.

Jorginho’s performances this season have been integral to ’s side topping the table ahead of , and Napoli have been keen to extend the 26 year old’s stay beyond his current deal.

Il Mattino reports the Partenopei have offered a two year contract extension until 2022, worth €3m a season.  It means the Italian’s wage will double from £25,000 a week to £50,000 a week.

Napoli’s president is said to have arranged a meeting in the next few days to tie up the deal for Jorginho, indicating that Arsenal will have to move on to other targets if they want to sign a playmaker.
