Not satisfied with signing Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang on deadline day, Sport Bild (via the Sun) report that Arsenal could yet make a move for Schalke midfielder Max Meyer.

The German international has been linked with the Gunners on and off over the past few years, with Tottenham and Liverpool also reportedly interested in the 22 year old.

Meyer’s current contract expires at the end of the season, and Schalke face the prospect of losing him on a free transfer in the summer if they don’t sell him today.

They have already lost star player Leon Goretzka on a Bosman transfer to Bayern Munich, and they will likely be keen to do a deal in order to get some money for Meyer.

Arsenal will not be the only club in for the playmaker. German journalist Torsten Rumpf has revealed that Barcelona are also be interested in the player.

The central midfielder has not had the best of seasons for Schalke, with just one goal in 21 appearances, but he has been playing in a deeper role this campaign, with manager Domenico Tedesco using him as a midfield anchor man.
