Borussia Dortmund will look to pay Arsenal just €1.5m (£1.3m) to sign Olivier Giroud on loan for the rest of the season, according to Kicker.

The German magazine, who seem to have the inside scoop on the Gunners’ negotiations with Dortmund for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, believe the Frenchman will not be joining the Bundesliga club on a permanent basis.

Evening Standard journalist Simon Johnson reported last week that Arsenal were willing to include Giroud as part of their bid for Aubameyang but Kicker say Dortmund only want a straight cash offer of €70m (£62m) for the 28 year old.

The German side are believed to be extremely unhappy with the Gunners’ and the Gabonese forward’s antics during the negotiations. They believe they are being blackmailed into selling for below his market value.

Arsenal have reportedly already agreed personal terms with Aubameyang, with a three and half year contract worth €10m a season having been put on the table.

With the player wanting to leave, the Gunners are said to be trying to lower the striker’s asking price, believing Dortmund are desperate to sell an unhappy player. So far, the Bundesliga side are holding firm on their €70m valuation.
