Juventus will not negotiate with Arsenal over centre back Medhi Benatia, according to Sky Sport Italia (via TMW).

The Gunners reportedly had a €40m (£35.5m) bid turned down for the Moroccan international, and the Bianconeri are adamant the 30 year old will not be sold in the January transfer window.

Benatia has been in and out the first team, with Daniele Rugani having being picked ahead of him to partner Giorgio Chiellini at centre back on a number of occasions by manager Max Allegri this campaign.

Since his return from an ankle injury in late November however, the defender has been a mainstay in Juve’s starting eleven, and the Serie A side haven’t conceded a single goal since his reintroduction to the first team.

Although a £35.5m offer for a 30 year old doesn’t seem like something that Arsene Wenger would consider, the club’s 3-3 draw against Liverpool on Friday night may have forced the Gunners boss’s hand in seeking to strengthen the backline.
