Velez Sarsfield striker Maximiliano Romero is close to agreeing a move to Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, according to Eindhovens Dagblad.

The 18 year old has been linked with Arsenal over the past two years, but it seems that the Gunners have been beaten by the Eredivisie side to his signature.

A serious knee injury was said to be the reason behind why Arsenal failed to sign Romero back in 2015, and the player has subsequently seen another move to Bundeliga club Stuttgart collapse very recently.

The forward is again injured with an abductor muscle tear, but it doesn’t seem to have put off PSV from making their move. Eindhovens Dagblad report the Dutch club are wary about announcing a move too soon, and are awaiting results of a medical set for this week before being confident that a deal can be finalised.

They have an agreement on a six year contract with the player in principle, but there are still some finer details to be agreed upon before a signing can be announced.

The teenager started this season’s Argentine Primera Division in excellent form with two braces in his first two games, but he has failed to score since September, and has spent the last two games on the sidelines.
