Although it would be wise to take the Daily Star‘s report that Arsenal are close to securing a £60m deal for Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir with a large pinch of salt, Gunners fans should no doubt be excited that the club are considering a move for the player.
The French international has had a superb start to the Ligue One season with 11 goals in 11 appearances, following on from a season where he played alongside Alexandre Lacazette, and racked up 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.
With Mesut Ozil being given to the end of December to sign a new contract, it seems the Gunners are getting their transfer plans in place early as they anticipate the likely departure of the German international.
The 29 year old has been linked with Atletico Madrid in recent days, but it isn’t known whether Arsenal will opt to sell the playmaker in January or allow the midfielder to leave in the summer.
Fekir would be a likelier summer signing than a target for the January transfer window so it could be that Ozil will remain until his current expires. In any case, Arsenal fans on Twitter are excited by the prospect of Fakir moving to the Emirates:
