Fenerbahce centre back Roman Neustadter says he has always hoped that he would sign for Arsenal but he believes the time has passed to realise that dream.

The 29 year old has played for both Germany and Russia in his career but he doesn’t think the Gunners will be interested in signing him, calling the transfer “impossible” to achieve when asked by Futbol Arena:

“I like Arsenal’s football, but it seems impossible to transfer to Arsenal, I think I can say that.”

Neustadter started his career with Mainz despite being born in Russia. He went on to play for Borussia Monchengladbach and Schalke before making the free transfer move to Fenerbahce in 2016.

The defender was given his first cap for Germany in 2012 in a 0-0 draw against the Netherlands, and he then made his first start against Ecuador in a 4-2 win back in May 2013. As he hadn’t played a competitive game for the Germans however, he was still eligible to play for Russia, and he currently has five caps for the country of his birth, with one coming against England at Euro 2016.
