Sampdoria are considering making another bid for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere in the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Serie A side are seeking to bolster their squad in their bid for Europa League football next season, and manager Marco Giampaolo has targeted the England international as a possible recruit.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has gone on record in recent days stating he wants Wilshere to stay at the Emirates, but has insisted the player focus on his fitness rather than on his future.

The 25 year old’s contract expires at the end of the season, and last week the midfielder commented that time is running out for him to secure a new deal at Arsenal.

Sampdoria’s interest in Wilshere goes back to the summer when they offered £7.5m for the central midfielder, but the offer was rejected by the Gunners. In January, with just six months left on his contract, the Italian club may bid once again and see if Arsenal are tempted to sell so the player doesn’t leave for nothing at the end of the season.
