Arsenal are among the teams scouting Mali Under 17 international Abdoul Salam Ag Jiddou, according to Calciomercato.com.

Salam was one of the players who impressed at the Under 17 World Cup back in October as Mali made it to the semi-finals, where they lost to Spain.

The 17 year old was part of a Mali side which excited onlookers with their attacking football, with the African nation having the most shots on goal during the tournament.

As the anchor man in midfield, Salam played an integral role in setting up his team mate’s attacks. His stand out performance came in Mali’s last group game against New Zealand where he scored the first goal, and provided the assists for another two, in a 3-1 win.

In addition to the Gunners, scouts from Rome and Inter Milan were also impressed with Salam’s performances. The player himself is reportedly inspired by former Barcelona player and Mali international Seydou Keita. Whether he can emulate his idol we will have to wait and see.
