Arsenal and Manchester United are keeping tabs on Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, according to Calciomercato.com.
United have been heavily linked with the Dutch international over the past year but the Gunners’ interest has not been so well established. The 27 year old has started ten of Roma’s 16 matches in all competitions this season, and continues to be an integral member of the first team despite having to overcome serious injury.
Strootman missed the best part of two and a half years of football with knee problems, but returned to his best form last season with six goals and nine assists in 45 games. The Dutchman however has not scored this season under manager Eusebio Di Francesco.
The midfielder would likely be seen as a replacement for Santi Cazorla. The Spaniard remains on the sidelines after eight surgeries on his ankle. The 32 year old is expected to return to first team action in the New Year but his contract does expire at the end of the season.
