Arsenal are closely monitoring FC Basel striker Dimitri Oberlin, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
The Gunners are not the only club tracking the 20 year old however with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Roma all watching the Swiss under 21 international’s development.
Oberlin is currently on loan at Basel from Red Bull Salzburg and the Swiss champions do have an option to buy the player at the end of the season. It suggests that any deal for the player would be done next summer when he will likely move back to Switzerland permanently.
It must be said that the forward has impressed more in the Champions League than in the Swiss Super League this campaign. His two goals in 11 league games does not suggest a player who should be of interest to Europe’s elite clubs.
However, his two goals in the 5-0 win against Benfica, and another strike in the 2-0 victory over CSKA Moscow has brought him to the attention of scouts. His electric pace is his standout attribute, and will likely make him an attractive prospect for many teams.
