Manchester United could yet beat Arsenal and Bayern Munich in the race to sign Leon Goreztka on a free transfer, according to Bild.

The German tabloid reports that United may look to sign both the Schalke midfielder and Mesut Ozil next summer when their contracts expire. Goretzka has been tracked by the Gunners for a while but Bayern Munich and Barcelona have reportedly been the favourites to land the 22 year old up until now.

Bild are now reporting that a move to Barca is the least likely option as the German international may not be quite ready to step up and become a first team regular for the Catalan club. Bayern are however still waiting in the wings, with United now seemingly also in contention.

Goretzka has started this season relatively well despite the speculation surrounding his future. In eight games for Schalke so far, he has managed two goals and contributed one assist.
