The Independent‘s chief football writer Miguel Delaney is reporting Manchester United are interested in signing Mesut Ozil on a free transfer next summer.

The German international’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the Mirror are reporting that the 28 year old wants a staggering £350,000 a week to stay at the Emirates.

With the Gunners only prepared to pay £275,000 a week, it seems likely at this point that Ozil will be leaving the club, either in January or in the summer.

The Independent report that United manager Jose Mourinho is “highly confident” that his good personal relationship with the player will facilitate a move to Old Trafford, but Arsenal may have other ideas.

In a bid to stop such a move occurring, they may consider a January sale for the midfielder. The Mirror says that the club are considering such a possibility with Inter Milan being tipped as a possible destination, after the Serie A team’s president confirmed the club’s interest last week.
