Arsenal are considering an approach for Real Sociedad’s young full back Alvaro Odriozola, according to Calciomercato.com.

The 21 year old got his first senior cap for Spain in the last international break, playing the full 90 minutes of the 3-0 win over Albania. His performance was capped by providing an assist for Thiago Alcantara’s goal during the game.

Calciomercato are suggesting that the Gunners’ interest in Odriozola may be a contingency plan if they lose Hector Bellerin. The Arsenal full back reportedly asked to leave the club in the summer to force through a move to Barcelona.

Barca signed Nelson Semedo from Benfica instead after withdrawing from the race to sign Bellerin, and it looks unlikely they will make another bid for the Spaniard in the near future.

Still, the Gunners may have scouts watching Odriozola regardless of the Bellerin situation. The right back has a hugely impressive eight assists in 26 games for Real Sociedad since breaking into the first team back in January.
