Arsenal will revive their interest in Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez in the January transfer window, according to the Mirror journalist Steve Stammers.

The Gunners may have to fight off rivals Tottenham to sign the Algerian international. The London clubs are said to be both keen on the 26 year old after overlooking the midfielder in the summer.

Roma were closest to landing Mahrez back in August but the Serie A club failed to meet Leicester’s valuation of the player after a series of bids were rejected by the Foxes.

The winger even left Algeria’s training base on deadline day in the hope that a transfer away from the King Power stadium would go ahead, but no team were close to signing the player.

Since being named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year for the 2015/16 season, Mahrez has struggled to recapture his best form, and so far this season he has failed to impress with no goals and two assists in seven Premier League games.
