Arsenal are considering selling Mesut Ozil in January so he doesn’t leave for nothing next summer, according to the Evening Standard journalist James Olley.
The Gunners are still engaged in contract talks with the German star but so far there has been no breakthrough in negotiations as the 28 year old holds out for his wage demands of £350,000 a week.
A report in the Independent yesterday suggested that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was confident of signing the attacking midfielder due to his good personal relationship with the player. However, the Standard reports that United have yet to formally declare their interest in the player.
With the Premier League side’s interest still unknown, the favourites to sign Ozil would be Inter Milan. The Italian club’s president Erick Thohir said last week that the Serie A side were interested in the midfielder, but he said he doubted that a deal could be done in January.
