Arsenal are actively considering selling playmaker Mesut Ozil in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

Ozil’s agent Dr Erkut Sogut told Turkish media last week that discussions over a new deal were going well, but it seems that the player’s attitude in training, and his performances on the pitch, may lead to the 29 year old being sold instead.

The German international’s inability to shield the ball for Tom Cleverley’s late winner for Watford on Saturday reportedly angered many in the dressing room, and this has been compounded by a noticeable drop in effort at training.

It must be said here that Ozil has been struggling with a knee injury for most of the season so I would take the above with a large pinch of salt. Still, it could be the case that the German’s lack of influence this season (he has no assists so far) could have persuaded manager Arsene Wenger to sell the player, rather than let the midfielder go for nothing in the summer.
