Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has kept an offer on the table for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema just in case the Spanish side decide to sell the Frenchman, reports Don Balon.

The Spanish publication say the offer is of interest to both Benzema and Real president Florentino Perez, but manager Zinedine Zidane is not willing to let the 29 year old leave the Bernabeu.

Wenger is said to be looking at ways of mitigating the loss of either Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil who could both leave the club in the near future. Don Balon say the Gunners boss has always been an admirer of Benzema, but up until now he has never managed to persuade Real into selling the forward.

The Real striker only signed a new four year contract in September which Don Balon reports has a €1000m buyout clause. Yet, the new deal is seen by some as an insurance policy for Perez, who is keen on selling Benzema for a higher fee with no risk of the player’s contract running down.
