Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel has revealed how the German club convinced Amine Harit to join them instead of rival suitors this summer.

The Moroccan international was reportedly a target for both Arsenal and AC Milan but the attacking midfielder made the switch from Nantes to the Bundesliga for £7m back in July.

Speaking to German publication Sport Bild (quotes via Goal.com), Heidel explained how the club shared videos of Schalke’s fans to demonstrate the passion of support that Harit would be playing for:

“We showed Harit emotions from Schalke, which really impressed him. With the ball he is brutally fast. We missed such a player last season.”

Since arriving in Germany, the 20 year old has mostly played as a right winger, and he has performed pretty well so far with four assists in his first eight Bundesliga matches.

Harit was also called up for the first time for Morocco, and he made his senior international debut in a 3-0 win over Gabon earlier this month. The midfielder had previously played for France at youth level, but has chosen to switch allegiances to the African country.
