Chile’s struggles to qualify for the 2018 World Cup could have a direct impact on Arsenal’s match against Manchester City on the 5th November, according to ESPN.
A World Cup play-off between New Zealand and whoever finishes fifth in the South American qualifying group is due to take place on November 6th, and FIFA rules state that country’s are allowed to call up players four days before any international fixture.
Chile currently lie sixth in World Cup qualifying after two successive losses against Paraguay and Bolivia in the last international break. There are just two games left to play, and there is just three points separating Colombia in third and Chile. Argentina currently hold the fifth place spot with Peru in third.
With Sanchez the only Chilean in the Arsenal squad, the City fixture is unlikely to be moved or postponed. Equally though, it must be said that the fixture could impact City instead. Nicolas Otamendi and Sergio Aguero could both miss the match against the Gunners if Argentina remain in fifth position after the last round of fixtures.
