Inter will attempt to challenge to sign Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil on a free next summer, reports.

A big problem for the club will be the German international’s wage demands. The 28 year old will not accept a pay cut, and it means the Inter’s owners the Suning Group will need to free up funds in the January in order to meet Ozil’s salary expectations.

The German is reportedly on roughly £150,000 a week currently but there has been reports that have offered a sizeable wage rise to as much as £280,000.

Manager Arsene Wenger says that reports from about contract talks stalling are false, but negotiations have slowed down since the start of the season. Ozil’s current deal expires at the end of the campaign, and he could opt to leave on a free with the likes of United, and others all watching his contract talks with some interest.
