Inter Milan would not allow playmaker Joao Mario to leave the club in a part exchange deal for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, according to Calciomercato.com.

It has been reported that the German international could make the switch to the Nerazzurri with Mario moving the other way, but it seems that any such deal would be a non-starter.

It is unlikely such a proposal would have been of any interest to the Gunners either to be honest. Mario struggled during his first season in Italy after making the £36m switch from Sporting Lisbon.

During his first campaign, he made 30 appearances in Serie A, scoring three times and providing five assists. The 24 year old has certainly started his second season in much better form with four assists already in his first six league games.

The midfielder is certainly not on the same level as Ozil, but the Gunners may have a decision to make in January whether to sell the German or let him leave for free in July, if he doesn’t sign a new deal before then.
