Inter Milan have firmly closed the door on trying to sign Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi in the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato.com.
The Nerazzurri attempted to sign the 25 year old on a loan deal in the week leading up to deadline day at the end of last month, but were reportedly put off by the Gunners’ asking price.
Inter have very few fit centre backs in their squad at the moment. The fourth choice centre half Zinho Vanheusden has suffered a serious knee injury leaving outcast Andrea Ranocchia the only reserve for first choice defensive pairing Miranda and Milan Skriniar.
Mustafi meanwhile has flown out to Belarus for Arsenal’s Europa League match against BATE Borisov, and will likely be one of the few first team players who will feature in the group stage match tonight.
His return to the starting eleven for the last two league games against Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion have resulted in two clean sheets, although it must be said he was very lucky not to give away a penalty in the first half against the Baggies on Monday night.
