German international ignored Arsenal interest hoping for Barcelona offer

|

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler was holding out for a move to Barcelona before the transfer window closed, and asked his agent to ‘cool’ talks with Arsenal, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan newspaper also report that PSG technical director Antero Henrique had given Draxler’s agent Roger Wittmann permission to contact other clubs about securing a move away from the Ligue One club.

The Gunners were said to be keenest on the 23 year old but Draxler was hoping that Barca would look to sign him after they failed in bids for his PSG team mate Angel Di Maria and Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho on deadline day.

The Spanish side were however not interested in making a move for the German international, with Barcelona technical director Robert Fernandez not including him on a short list of targets as he didn’t fit the profile of the player they were after.

Draxler is now unlikely to be given much game time at PSG, and according to Mundo Deportivo, the German is not best pleased with his manager Unai Emery who he feels has not treated him well since his return from the Confederations Cup.
