Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has signed a new contract at the La Liga champions ending rumours that he could make a move to Arsenal next summer.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is believed to be a long time admirer of the French international, and reports from Spain over the past week have suggested that the forward could have been sold to make room for a younger replacement.

Benzema has now put an end to any speculation with his new contract keeping him at the Bernabeu until 2021 when he will be 33 years of age. Since arriving at Real back in 2009, he has scored 182 goals in 371 appearances for the club, and if he remains with the club for the duration of his new four year contract, he would have been with the Spanish side for 12 years.

The Frenchman is a firm favourite of current manager Zinedine Zidane, and has remained the club’s number one striker, seeing off the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Alvaro Morata in the past.
