Scouts from Everton were in Rome to watch Udinese midfielder Jakub Jankto against Roma on Saturday, according to Sport Mediaset.

The Czech international has been on Arsenal’s radar for well over a year with the player’s agent Giuseppe Riso confirming back in July that the 21 year old would be interested in a move to the Gunners.

It is just the midfielder’s second full season playing in Italy’s top flight. After moving from Slavia Prague for €700,000 in 2014, he was then sent out on loan to Serie B side Ascoli where he played regularly in the 2015/16 season.

Jankto returned to Udinese to play a full part in the Serie A side’s league campaign last season, and he has started off this campaign as a first team regular. The Czech star has been named in the starting line up for six of Udinese’s seven games so far, scoring two goals and providing two assists. He generally plays either in the centre of midfield, or on the left as he did in the 3-1 defeat to Roma at the weekend.
