Barcelona midfielder Rafinha is likely to leave on loan in the January transfer window, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan based newspaper report that Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, AC Milan and Inter Milan are the likeliest candidates to sign the player.

The 24 year old is still recovering from a knee injury he sustained back in April, and although he was linked with a move away from the Camp Nou during the summer, his lack of match fitness meant that any deal was unlikely.

Rafinha is believed to be keen on securing his place in Spain’s squad for next year’s World Cup, but he is facing an uphill struggle at Barca where he is unlikely to get much game time.

In addition to the first choice midfield trio of Ivan Rakitic, Andre Iniesta and Sergio Busquets, manager Ernesto Valverde has opted to play Sergi Roberto in central midfield rather than at right back, and the signing of Pauliho from Guangzhou Evergrande for £40m will reduce Rafinha’s opportunities even further.

A January loan switch in order to impress Spain boss Julen Lopetegui looks to be the best option for the midfielder.
