Manchester United will consider paying forward a £25million signing on fee to make the switch to Old Trafford in the summer, according to the Sun journalist Neil Custis.

United’s rivals were said to have been close to sealing a £60m transfer for the 28 year old last month, only for the move to collapse once the Gunners failed to land his replacement, Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

City are reportedly still keen on Sanchez, and may consider a lower bid of £20m in January according to reports, but United may look to secure Sanchez on a pre-contract agreement instead, in view to a free transfer move in July when the Chilean international’s contract has expired.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger told Sky Sports at the end of last month that he wanted Sanchez to sign a contract extension at but that looks more and more unlikely as every week passes.
