Manchester United will consider paying forward Alexis Sanchez a £25million signing on fee to make the switch to in the summer, according to the Sun journalist Neil Custis.

United’s rivals Manchester City were said to have been close to sealing a £60m for the 28 year old last month, only for the move to collapse once failed to land his replacement, Monaco’s .

City are reportedly still keen on Sanchez, and may consider a lower bid of £20m in January according to reports, but United may look to secure Sanchez on a pre-contract agreement instead, in view to a free transfer move in July when the Chilean international’s Arsenal contract has expired.

boss Arsene told Sky Sports at the end of last month that he wanted Sanchez to sign a contract extension at Arsenal but that looks more and more unlikely as every week passes.
