Arsenal striker Lucas Perez has said he turned down a number of different clubs to secure a loan switch back to Deportivo La Coruna on deadline day.

Everton were reportedly among the teams who tried to land the 28 year old before the transfer window closed last night but the Spaniard said he made it clear to the Gunners he would only accept a move to one club. He is quoted by Marca as saying:

“In the last three days of the market I talked to several sporting directors and coaches, Arsenal had closed deals with many clubs, but I made it clear that I wanted to come here.”

The details of the season long loan deal are not clear. Arsenal have not revealed whether Deportivo have an option to buy the player at the end of the season or not.

The Gunners reportedly turned down a bid of £11m from the La Liga club as they were holding out for their €15m (£13.75m) asking price but with the Spanish side refusing to meet their demands, and the player unwilling to move anywhere else,  manager Arsene Wenger decided to cede to the striker’s wishes.

Perez signed from Deportivo for £17million last summer but made just nine starts for the Gunners last season.
