Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi has contacted the representatives of Marseille defender Christopher Rocchia about making a move to the Emirates, according to Footmercato.net.
The 19 year old has not yet been given a professional deal by Marseille, but after recent performances for the club’s reserve side, the Ligue One side have decided to offer a three year contract to the player.
Rocchia’s current deal expires in June, and he will be able to move on a free transfer if he doesn’t sign a new contract. As he is not yet signed a professional deal, the full back can talk to other clubs freely, which has led to the Gunners getting in contact with the defender’s agent.
They will have rivals for the Frenchman’s signature though. Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the teenager, and their Sporting Director Michael Zorc has contacted the player’s representatives in order to persuade the left back to move to Germany instead.
