There is currently very little hope that either Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez will agree to new contracts at Arsenal, according to the Daily Telegraph‘s deputy football correspondent Jeremy Wilson.

The journalist reports that both players rejected the Gunners’ last offer of £280,000 a week (or £14.5m a season), and it seems Arsenal are not preparing to return with any new proposal for either player.

Sanchez was reportedly close to a £55m switch to Manchester City before the transfer window closed, but the Gunners’ failure to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar scuppered any late switch from occurring.

There is a little more hope that Ozil could have a change of heart, and sign a new contract, but the fact that there is now no new contract talks going on between the German international’s representatives and the club, it means a move on a free transfer next summer is the likeliest outcome.
