Brazilian news outlet Zero Hora are reporting that Arsenal and Liverpool remain interested in Gremio striker Luan despite the 24 year old seemingly being close to joining Spartak Moscow.

Gremio are said to be locked in talks with Spartak but negotiations are believed to have stalled after the Russian club wanted to pay for the forward in a larger number of instalments than the Brazilian side would like.

Speaking today about Luan’s situation today (quotes via the Daily Star), the club’s vice president Odorico Roman confirmed they have received two formal offers, one from Spartak and another from Sampdoria.  At this stage he said, neither Liverpool nor Arsenal have made an approach for Luan:

“I do not know of any other proposal. We had two firm approaches, from Sampdoria and Spartak. They were made, but Luan remains as a Gremio player at the moment.”

The player’s contract expires next year and Gremio are believed to be reluctant to let the player go. They are said to be holding out until at least the end of the month so they can sign a replacement.
