Scottish champions Celtic and Championship club Leeds are fighting it out to sign Chuba Akpom from Arsenal, according to the Mirror.
The 21 year old has had five loan spells over the past three and a half seasons, but with the chances of first team football at the Emirates slim, the forward is now seeking a permanent switch away from his boyhood club.
A move north of the border to Scotland with Celtic may be tempting for Akpom. Champions League football could be on the cards after the Scottish Premiership side’s 5-0 win over Astana in the first leg of the final qualifying round for the group stages of the competition.
The striker may find himself behind Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele at Celtic Park though, and this may make a switch to Leeds more attractive. The Yorkshire club have recently sold Chris Wood to Burnley and are seeking a first team replacement.
Akpom’s last spell on loan was in the Championship with Brighton & Hove Albion at the back end of last season, where he played a role in helping the Seagulls get promoted to the Premier League.
