Nantes have made an attempt to sign Arsenal midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide on loan, according to L’Equipe.

The French newspaper reports that the Ligue One side proposed a deal yesterday, and that Claudio Ranieri’s side are hopeful that a deal could be done for the 19 year old to return to France.

Reine-Adelaide joined from Lens for a reported £2.25m in 2015, and he made his debut for the Gunners in a 3-1 win over Sunderland in the FA Cup third round tie in January 2016.

The midfielder hasn’t yet made an appearance in the Premier League but he was used regularly in cup competitions by manager Arsene Wenger last campaign. As well as featuring in three mathces in the FA Cup, he made three starts in the EFL Cup ties against Nottingham Forest, Reading and Southampton.

Ostensibly a central midfielder, Reine-Adelaide has also been utilised on both flanks by Wenger during his eight games so far for the club. The teenager will however have limited game time this campaign and a loan move may suit both parties.
