Bordeaux striker Gaetan Laborde has confirmed that both Arsenal and Liverpool made enquiries about him earlier this summer.

The 23 year old said their interest has not gone further than that so far, and his club have yet to receive an official bid for him. Speaking to Football365.fr (quotes via Foot-Sur7.fr), the forward say he was flattered to be linked with a move to the Premier League:

“There was indeed interest. After that, there was nothing official. I do not let that go to my head… It’s true that it’s flattering. It is part of the trust that I was talking about. It’s always good to be followed by clubs like that. These are two great clubs, but from there to say that there are official offers…”

Laborde has not ruled out a move before the end of the transfer window either. He says he will let his agent handle matters:

“I do not necessarily know more and I do not want to confuse my mind with that. I’m in Bordeaux and there are very important deadlines coming, I’m focused on that. I have an agent who handles all this.”

Reports in France linked the Frenchman with both the Gunners and Liverpool earlier this summer, but his record for Bordeaux did not suggest that any move to England would be likely.

He scored just six times in 36 Ligue One appearances last season whilst scoring another seven in cup competitions. It was his first full campaign of action in the top tier of French Football after spending the second half of the 2015/16 season on loan at Ligue Two club Clermont.
