Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are keeping a close eye on Racing Club striker Lautaro Martinez, according to Mundo Deportivo journalist Aquiles Furlone.

The Buenos Aires based writer says that although Valencia have the first option to buy the 19 year old, Spanish rivals Atletico and the Gunners are the teams most interested in the forward nicknamed the “Toro,” or in English the “Bull”.

Martinez has been linked with Arsenal on and off over the past year but his performances for the Argentina Under 20s at the South American Under 20 Championships earlier this year, and at the Under 20 World Cup, have brought the player to the attention of multiple European clubs.

He replaced veteran Lisandro Lopez as Racing Club’s first choice striker in the second half of last season, allowing him to develop his game further in senior football. He scored five times in 20 games last campaign and he will be hoping to establish himself as the club’s main goal threat when the new Argentine season starts at the end of August.
