Barcelona could offer midfielder Andre Gomes as part of their offer for Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Catalan publication believes that Arsenal are among the clubs who are interested in the Portuguese international. A bid of €35m was reportedly made on May 21st from either the Gunners, Tottenham, Manchester United or Juventus but the offer was rejected at the time.
With the La Liga club struggling to make a deal happen for Verratti however, it seems they are now willing to let Gomes go for the right price.
Barcelona have been pursuing Verratti all summer and if the player does finally move to the Camp Nou, there would be question marks over the Gomes’ future at the club in any case. Either the Portuguese international or team mate Ivan Rakitic’s position in the squad would be under threat and Mundo Deportivo report the Croatian could in fact be included in the Verratti deal instead of Gomes.
Arsenal’s possible interest in Gomes does have some credibility considering the club’s central midfield situation. With Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere still out injured, it leaves Aaron Ramsey as the club’s only recognised offensive central midfield player.
