€30m offer indicates Arsenal could have won their battle to keep key player

|

Barcelona have made a move for Benfica right back Nelson Semedo, according to the Record newspaper in Portugal. News of a €30m bid will come as a big boost to Arsenal in their attempts to keep Hector Bellerin this summer.

Catalan based publication Sport have reported that Barca have decided to pull out of a deal for the Gunners right back, tallying with their move for Semedo, but Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s other sports newspaper, has not been so quick to rule Barca out.

They report that Barcelona are getting frustrated about the amount of time for a deal to be agreed for the 22 year old. A ten day deadline to make a transfer happen after the European Under 21 Championship final on 30th June has expired, which may have prompted the La Liga club to move on to other targets.

Bellerin has not travelled to Australia with Arsenal’s tour party due to his participation in the Under 21 tournament. He is currently on holiday in the United States before he returns for pre-season training.
