Portuguese newspaper Record have joined another publication A Bola in reporting that Sporting Lisbon are actively trying to sell Arsenal target William Carvalho.
The paper reports the Portuguese club have set a €30m (£26.3m) price tag for the midfielder but they have yet to receive a single formal bid for the 24 year old despite numerous informal enquiries from English clubs.
Record name Arsenal, Manchester City and West Bromwich Albion as Carvalho’s most likely destinations and they say Sporting are hoping to receive offers in “the coming days.”
Whether the Gunners will be one of those teams, it remains to be seen. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has a number of holding midfielders available to him in the squad with Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny.
The Frenchman may well be deciding whether the Portuguese international is an upgrade on what he has at the club already, and also if he needs to spend £26.3m to improve in that area of the pitch.
