Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan missed pre-season training on Monday morning, according to Sport, prompting rumours that a move away from the Camp Nou was imminent.

Any talk of a transfer was quickly dampened later in the day when manager Ernesto Valverde and technical director Robert Fernandez denied any bid for Arda had been made, but Sport is sure that the Turkish international’s time in Spain is up.

Questions remain over his potential destination but the Catalan newspaper are speculating that Arsenal, along with three Turkish clubs, Besiktas, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are the clubs most interested.

The Gunners main priority currently is Thomas Lemar. It has been reported that Arsenal will have to break their transfer record once again to sign the Monaco winger. The Mirror‘s John Cross reports that the £52m they paid Lyon for Alexandre Lacazette may soon be eclipsed by the signing of the midfielder.

It could be the case that if they fail to land Lemar, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may turn his attentions to Arda as secondary option.
