midfielder Leon Goretzka will be joining next summer, according to German journalist Raphael Honigstein (via Sport Illustrated). have been tracking the German but it seems they may have missed out to the Bundesliga champions.

In response to a question about the 22 year old on Twitter, Honigstein confirmed that the “deal with is done.” It must be said that Honigstein made the same comment earlier this month prior to recent remarks by sporting director Christian Heidel. HeidelĀ revealed last week to Sport Bild that no agreement was in place for the 22 year old to leave the club:

“We do not need to call anyone because of Leon Goretzka. We will definitely not give him away. Goretzka is not for sale – even if a club should offer a transfer [fee] between 20 and 30 million euros.”

Of course this doesn’t preclude the possibility that have an agreement in place with the player to sign him on a free next summer. Goretzka’s current contract has less than 12 months to run, and he is reportedly refusing to sign a new one which could indicate have already sown up the deal for the midfielder.
