Paris Saint-Germain will try to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez for €40m or £35.6m, according to Le Parisien.

The French newspaper reports that PSG sporting director Antero Henrique returned from the club’s pre-season tour of the United States at the start of the week. He arrived back in Paris before making the journey to London for talks with Arsenal.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has reiterated that the Chilean international will not be sold during the summer transfer window despite the 28 year old entering the final year of his contract at the Emirates.

The Guardian have revealed that the London club have calculated that Sanchez will be worth more to them staying for another year, rather than selling him for a cut price deal this summer.

If Sanchez helps the club to finish in the top four next season, the £40m revenue form Champions League qualification would more than make up for the Chilean leaving on a free transfer. Qualification for the premier European competition will also prevent them from having to pay inflated wages in order to persuade top players to join a club without Champions League football.
