Alexis Sanchez is set to leave Arsenal and join Manchester City this summer, according to reports in Chile.
The Chile international, 28, has been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal as a new deal has yet to be agreed.
Sanchez only has one-year left on his current deal at the Emirates and it’s been mooted that he will seek a move away from the Gunners due to the club’s poor Premier League campaign last season where they finished outside the top four for the first time under Arsene Wenger.
A horde of top European clubs, including the likes of Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are all reportedly keen on the Chilean, but Wenger is hopeful that he will remain at the Emirates.
Reports in Germany yesterday suggested that Bayern are ready to offer Sanchez a huge £21.7million-a-year to join the Bundesliga giants, but Chilean journalist Fernando Solabarrieta (via The Sun) is now claiming Sanchez is set to stay in the Premier League and has completed his move to Manchester City.
City are already splashing the cash for next season’s pursuit of the Premier League by signing Bernardo Silva from Monaco for £43million and will look to do the same with Sanchez.
Arsenal have since denied any such deal has been agreed with City, whilst Wenger would rather sell him abroad than to a Premier League rival if the worse was to happen.
With only 12 months left to run on Sanchez’s current deal, Wenger will have to decide whether to offload the striker in the upcoming months and recoup the money spent on him three years ago or risk losing him on a free next summer, should the Chilean decide not to sign a new contract at Arsenal.
